Tall Bearded Iris Mail Order

Open from Nov-Jan each year

Our tall bearded iris are available via mail order from November to January each year. All orders are dug and shipped early January.

We are a small nursery so we recommend ordering early to have the best choice of varieties before they sell out.

Digging in January allows for the new roots to develop and as we are in multiple locations we find this the best approach to take.

Iris rhizomes are dug, washed, and sent bare rooted via Australia Post. We ship to all states except WA due to quarantine restrictions. We have local pickup options for Tasmania – Gravelly Beach, West Tamar and Cygnet, Huon Valley.

We dig rhizomes just before shipping so they arrive fresh and in good condition. They are ready to plant upon arrival but will keep for a couple of weeks if they are kept dry and in a spot with good airflow.

Rhizomes can be planted approx 2cm deep and approx 40cm apart. Good sun and drainage are critical for bearded iris – mound your soil if you need to.

Your iris will appreciate being dug and divided every few years once a decent clump has developed. This gives them enough space to continue growing and encourages more flowers. Discard any old rhizomes that don’t have shoots on them. Digging and dividing is best done after flowering has finished.

Tall Bearded iris come in a rainbow of colours, are wonderfully hardy, and are a great addition to the garden.
